We Americans spend an ever-increasing amount of time in our automobiles. Long and short commutes , myriad errands, vacation trips and other factors keep us cooped up in our cars for far more time than is healthy for us...We spend countless hours stopped at lights, stopped in traffic and stopped at drive-up windows of various sorts. We visit with our family, talk on the phone, argue, think, plan, and who knows what else? Why not exercise?

Linda Sant 'Ambrogio is a movement specialist and educator in Florida, and a former modern dancer. She has many years of experience as a teacher and knowledge seeker in the fields of dance, fitness and personal wellness. She has studied with prominent authorities in the field of placement and alignment, movement science, applied kinesiology, energy medicine, yoga, tai chi and meditation. She is the author of the meditation series Sunflower Meditations. Ms. Sant'Ambrogio brings her diverse knowledge, her commitment to wellness, her philosophy of movement, and her endless hours in an automobile to the writing of CarGym.

Abbi Marchesani specializes in water based media and is also a senior certified instructor of William C.C. Chen's Tai Chi Chuan. She has been a faculty member at Cape Cod Community College, The Herman and Mary Robinson Museum School at the Provincetown Art Association and Provincetown's International Art Institute. CarGym is the first book designed to lead readers through an exercise program that can be comfortably and safely done in an automobile, and that rivals the local Crunch, Pilates and other health and athletic club routines.

CarGym takes the reader - and listener of the accompanying CD - through the importance of the proper use of abdominal muscles and breathing techniques, and clearly describes 50 exercises that can easily and safely be done in the car. Each exercise begins with the reminder to "Put car in park." These exercises can also be done as an office workout.

The accompanying CD leads the listener through three varying length exercise routines voiced over music.
